Definition

  • Percent genomic homology between a new isolated PRRS virus strain and a PPRS vaccine strain is based on the number of matching amino acids per total amino acids sequenced in the open reading frame 5 (ORF5) gene. The more homologous the ORF5 gene sequences, the more closely the variants are related.
