Aeob

Definition

  • An advanced explanation of benefits (AEOB) is a document that gives patients an early, detailed estimate of the costs for scheduled medical services. It includes information about which providers will treat the patient, whether those providers are in-network, estimated charges and out-of-pocket costs, progress toward meeting deductibles, and if any services require special approval. The AEOB also explains that the costs shown are just estimates based on current information and may change before the actual service.
