Albumin in CSF/Albumin in Serum or Plasma

Alb CSF/SerPl

Definition

  • The albumin quotient (AQ; CSF albumin/serum or plasma albumin x 100) is an important measurement to quantify the blood-brain barrier function. Normal function of the AQ barrier depends on the age of the patient; in newborns, a higher permeability may be observed.
