PhenX - coping styles - adolescent protocol 180201

Coping styles adolescent proto

Definition

  • This is a self-report inventory that includes 48 questions about how a young person copes with problems and stress. The protocol includes eight scales that fall into two categories: approach coping styles (logical analysis, positive reappraisal, seeking guidance and support, and problem solving) and avoidant coping styles (cognitive avoidance, acceptance or resignation, seeking alternative rewards, and emotional discharge). These scales are based on either cognitive or behavioral strategies. The Coping Responses Inventory is a proprietary instrument and may be purchased from PAR®, which stands for Psychological Assessment Resources, based in Lutz, Florida.
