Definition

  • The quantitative levels (corrected for background) for an IFN-gamma response by CD4+ T-helper lymphocytes stimulated by the presence of TB antigens, such as ESAT-6 and CFP-10. The amount of IFN-gamma may be measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and reported in IU/mL. Results are adjusted for background, heterophile antibody effects, or nonspecific IFN-gamma in blood samples.
