Definition

  • This analyte is measured using the non-derivatized tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS) method and is not measured when using the derivatized reagents. When using the derivatized reagents, it will instead be measured as the C5-DC+C10-OH analyte [LOINC: 53183-0]. A different LOINC code is used for the derivatized or non-derivatized method because based on the reagents used in processing, different sets of analytes become isobaric, which means that they cannot be distinguished on the MS/MS because they have the same molecular weight after reagent processing.
