Coxsackievirus IgG Ab [Presence] in Serum or Plasma by Immunoassay

CV IgG SerPl Ql IA

Definition

  • Antibodies in serum or plasma directed against Coxsackievirus can be detected by enzyme immunoassays. This code was created for, but not limited to, Institut Viron's SERION ELISA classic Coxsackievirus IgA/IgG/IgM test kit, which utilizes antigens for Coxsackieviruses serotypes B1 and B6. These antigens, described as widely cross-reactive, are used to facilitate the detection of infections due to other Coxsackieviruses serotypes. Due to the high homology of the viruses, cross reactions with Coxsackieviruses and other Enteroviruses as well as Hepatitis A virus, Epstein Barr Virus (EBV), Cytomegalovirus (CMV), Rhinoviruses and Mycoplasma have been described. A positive IgA and/or IgM test result combined with increasing IgG titer is diagnostic of an acute or recent Coxsackievirus infection.
