Holo-transcobalamin II [Moles/volume] in Serum
Holo-TC-II Ser-sCnc
Definition
- The fraction of vitamin
B12bound to transcobalamin II (TC-II), normally <30% of the total, is considered the "active" fraction available to cells. There have been claims in the literature that measurement of specifically the "active" fraction is an earlier indicator of deficiency, although as of 2011 this claim is reported to be controversial (Am J Clin Nutr. 2011 Jul;94(1):348S-358S. Epub 2011 May 18).
