Definition

  • Visceral fat area (VFA) is measured to determine how much VFA has accumulated in a patient. Single slice computed tomography (CT) of the intraabdominal area is the most accurate method. Dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) and bioimpedance measurements are other techniques for determining VFA.
