Perfusion index Blood Postductal Pulse oximetry

Perfusion index Bld Postductal PulseOx

Definition

  • The perfusion index measures the strength of the pulse at a sensor site and is the ratio of the pulsatile and nonpulsatile components of the pulse oximetry signal. Postductal measurement indicates that the measurements are taken using a pulse oximetry device placed in an anatomical location whose blood supply originates from the aorta after the junction of the aorta with the ductus arteriorsus (usually either the right or left foot).
