Definition

  • Body muscle mass is equal to the patient's total weight (kg) times their body muscle percentage (see LOINC 73965-6). This code represents muscle mass only. Other instruments or methods may be used to lean body weight (e.g. see LOINCs 8342-8 and 8343-6), which includes muscle, bone (skeletal) and organs - everything but body fat (e.g. LOINC 41982-0).
