Succinylacetone [Moles/volume] in DBS --post therapeutic diet
Succinylacetone p diet DBS-sCnc
Definition
- This test measures the succinylacetone (SUAC) level in children who have been diagnosed with phenylketonuria or tyrosinemia and are on a therapeutic diet for their condition. The parent of the patient collects the dried blood spot specimen at home and sends it to the laboratory. The succinylacetone level is used in combination with tyrosine and phenylalanine levels to monitor the patient's progress. Note: different locations use different monitoring analytes. In some states, tyrosine and phenylalanine levels are used in conjunction with the ratio of tyrosine to phenylalanine or vice versa, depending on the condition, instead of SUAC.
