Overall interpretation of oligosaccharides present in urine. Abnormal urinary oligosaccharide excretion occurs in patients with oligosaccharidosis (fucosidosis, alpha and beta manosidosis, and sialidosis). Patients suspected of having oligosaccharidosis can be screened by methods such as thin-layer chromatography to determine the oligosaccharide pattern. Results for diagnosis and to guide further testing.
