Metabolic disorder therapy monitoring panel - DBS

Metabolic disorder therapy Pnl DBS

Definition

  • The Metabolic disorder therapy monitoring panel is used for reporting the results of laboratory tests that measure response to treatment for patients who have been diagnosed with certain metabolic conditions, such as phenylketonuria (PKU). Treatment often consists of a therapeutic diet, and dried blood spot specimens are periodically sent to the laboratory in order to evaluate the patient's response to or compliance with treatment. This panel includes terms for the condition which is being monitored, the specimen quality of the dried blood spot, reason for unsatisfactory specimen (if relevant), and the specific tests that are used for monitoring the various conditions. One or more tests may be used for monitoring, depending on the specific condition.
