Definition

  • This test measures the alloisoleucine level in children who have been diagnosed with maple syrup urine disease are on a therapeutic diet for their condition. Dried blood spot specimens are sent to the lab for monitoring tests periodically. Depending on the lab, the alloisoleucine level may be used in combination with leucine, isoleucine, hydroxyproline and/or valine levels to monitor the patient's progress.
