Definition

  • This test measures the hydroxyproline level in children who have been diagnosed with maple syrup urine disease are on a therapeutic diet for their condition. Dried blood spot specimens are sent to the lab for monitoring tests periodically. Depending on the lab, the hydroxyproline level may be used in combination with leucine, isoleucine and/or alloisoleucine levels to monitor the patient's progress.
