Definition

  • This test measures the valine level in children who have been diagnosed with maple syrup urine disease and are on a therapeutic diet for their condition. Dried blood spot specimens are sent to the lab for monitoring tests periodically. The valine level is used in combination with leucine and isoleucine levels to monitor the patient's progress.
