Definition
- Dengue virus non-structural protein 1 (NS1 Ag) rapid test kits are available from manufacturers in various countries including the United States, Germany, and China. As of 2013, no Dengue virus NS1 Ag rapid test kits are approved for use in the United States. This term was based on, but not limited in use to, the BIOCREDIT Rapidgen Dengue NS1 Ag test kit that uses a lateral flow chromatographic immunoassay. Testing can be done in under 20 minutes on serum, plasma or whole blood. This is a screening test and reactive specimens must be confirmed with alternative methods.
