NHCS report
Definition
- The National Health Care Surveys (NHCS) report document contains data collected from physicians, ambulatory care centers, and hospitals about visits to inpatient, outpatient, and emergency department settings. The survey data captured includes information on patient demographics, symptoms, diagnoses, medications, therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, patient management, and planned future treatments. This term was created for, but not limited in use to, the HL7 Implementation Guide for CDA® Release 2: HL7 Implementation Guide for CDA® R2: National Health Care Surveys (NHCS), Release 1 - US Realm, which describes contraints that apply to three National Health Care Surveys conducted by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS): the National Ambulatory Medical Care Survey (NAMCS), the National Hospital Ambulatory Medical Care Survey (NHAMCS) and the National Hospital Care Survey (NHCS).
