Respiratory pathogens DNA and RNA 4 panel - Nasopharynx by NAA with probe detection

Resp path 4 Pnl Nph NAA+probe

Definition

  • Determining the etiology of respiratory symptoms remains a clinical and laboratory challenge. Infections with respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), influenza viruses (IVs), and adenoviruses (AdVs) are traditionally diagnosed using viral culture and direct immunofluorescence (DIF) tests, however real-time PCR studies considerably increase diagnostic yields for respiratory viruses from patients with respiratory symptoms within a clinically relevant time frame, allowing clinicians to start optimal patient management, and to initiate adequate use of antiviral therapy and optimal infection control.
