Definition

  • This term represents the percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) procedure. PCI, also known as coronary angioplasty, is a procedure performed via cardiac catheterization in order to open up the narrowed or blocked blood vessels (i.e., coronary arteries) that supply blood to the heart. The procedure may involve balloon catheter inflation and/or stent placement in the affected portion(s) of the coronary arteries. [PMID: 32310583]
