Definition

  • Detects Plasmodium falciparum specific histidine rich protein-2 (Pf. HRP-2) in whole blood samples. Pf. HRP-2 is a water soluble protein that is release from parasitized erythrocytes of infected individuals and is specific to P. falciparum species. This term was created for, but not limited in use to, the Nova Century Scientific Rapid test for P. Falciparum Malaria kit, which can deliver results within 30 minutes once the kit has been brought to room temperature.
