Urea [Molar ratio] in Serum or Plasma --post dialysis/pre dialysis
Urea post/pre dialysis SerPl-sRto
Definition
- The urea reduction ratio (URR) is a measure of urea clearance during hemodialysis and is calculated based on pre- and post-hemodialysis measurements of blood urea. The URR is directly associated with survival for patients on chronic hemodialysis (a higher URR is associated with lower risk of mortality). Urea clearance is routinely recorded and used to monitor the adequacy of hemodialysis and to compare the quality of hemodialysis delivery across dialysis facilities. [PMID: 10727547]
