Hepatitis B virus little e Ag and Ab panel - Serum

HBV e Ag + Ab Pnl Ser

Definition

  • This panel is used to determine the infectivity of hepatitis B virus carriers and to monitor the serologic response of chronically infected patients on antiviral therapy. There is still no complete cure for hepatitis B, there are 7 approved drugs for adults (2 for children) and many promising new drugs in development. Current treatments seem to be most effective in those who show signs of active liver disease. Some of the approved Hepatitis B Drugs in the United States are: Interferon Alpha, Lamivudine, Entecavir, Telbivudine and Tenofovir.
