Definition

  • Trough levels of clomipramine and levels of its metabolite, norclomipramine, are measured to monitor therapeutic drug levels and evaluate toxicity of clomipramine, a tricyclic antidepressant used primarily to treat obsessive-compulsive disorders, panic disorders and depression. When present in high concentrations, or when administered to elderly or susceptible populations, clomipramine may depress cardiac function.
