International Physical Activity Questionnaire Self-Administered Short Form [IPAQ]
Definition
- The International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) Self-Administered Short Form asks about three specific types of activity: 1. walking; 2. moderate intensity; and 3. vigorous intensity. These activities may be part of your employment, house or yard work, during spare time for recreation, exercise or sport, and transportation (e.g., walking to and from school or work). The IPAQ was designed primarily for population surveillance of physical activity among adults (ages 15-69 years). The items in the short IPAQ form were structured to provide separate scores on walking, moderate-intensity and vigorous-intensity activity. Computation of the total score for the short form is based on summation of the duration (in minutes) and frequency (days) of walking, moderate-intensity and vigorous-intensity activities.
