Definition

The amount of factor VIII (FVIII) and Von Willebrand factor.ristocetin cofactor (vWF:RCo) complex given based on the IU of vWF:RCo dosing for patients with Von Willebrand disease. For dosing based on Factor VIII for patients with hemophilia, see [LOINC: 77726-8]. This term was created for, but not limited in use to, Humate-P. According to the package insert provided by the submitter, Humate-P is an antihemophilic factor/von Willebrand factor complex approved to treat and prevent bleeding in adult patients with hemophilia A and also to treat spontaneous or trauma-induced bleeding episodes as well as prevent excessive bleeding during and after surgery in adults and children with von Willebrand disease (VWD).
