Definition

  • This panel contains information on the type of cell that has become neoplastic (histologic type), the malignant potential of the tumor (behavior) and the tumor grade (degree of differentiation). This term was created for, but not limited in use to, the Cancer Morphology Observation entry in the HL7 Implementation Guide for CDA© Release 2: Reporting to Public Health Cancer Registries from Ambulatory Healthcare Providers, Release 1. This guide was developed for EHR vendors to contain the specifications for developing the functionality of the EHR systems used by ambulatory healthcare providers to report information on cancer patients to the public health central cancer registry.
