Left ventricular Ejection fraction by US.2D+Calculated by Teichholz method

LV EF 2D Teichholz

Definition

  • This term represents the left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) based on left ventricular (LV) end-diastolic and end-systolic volumes as calculated by the Teichholz method from measurements taken during 2D cardiac echo. The Teichholz formula is used to calculate left ventricular volume as follows: LV end-diastolic volume = [7/2.4 + Dd]x[Dd]^3, where Dd = the left ventricular internal dimension (short axis) as measured at end-diastole, and LV end-systolic volume = [7/2.4 + Ds]x[Ds]^3, where Ds = the left ventricular internal dimension (short axis) as measured at end-systole.
