This term represents an index based on height^2.7. Left ventricular mass calculated by the truncated ellipsoid formula on 2D ultrasound is as follows: 1.05 * Pi * {(b+t)^2 * [2/3 * (a+t)+d-d^3/(3 * (a+t))^2] - b^2 * [2/3 * a + d - d^3/(3 * a^2)]}, where a = distance from the minor axis to the endocardium at the LV apex, b = LV minor radius, t = mean wall thickness, and d = distance from the minor axis to the mitral valve plane.
