West Nile virus IgG Ab [Presence] in Cerebral spinal fluid by Immunoassay

WNV IgG CSF Ql IA

Definition

  • This test is indicated for patients having symptoms of meningioencephalitis, as an aid in the presumptive laboratory diagnosis of West Nile virus infection. Positive results must be confirmed. WNV IgG antibodies generally are detected shortly after IgM antibodies and persist for many years following a symptomatic or asymptomatic infection. Therefore, the presence of IgG antibodies alone is only evidence of previous infection. http://www.cdc.gov/westnile/healthcareproviders/healthcareproviders-diagnostic.html. This term was created for, but not limited in use to, the submitter's West Nile IgG DxSelect Enzyme-linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) test kit.
