Atazanavir [Mass/volume] in Amniotic fluid

Atazanavir Amn-mCnc

Definition

  • Atazanavir, unlike other protease inhibitor used to treat HIV infection, crosses the placenta and when boosted with ritonavir (RTV) achieves measurable concentrations in the fetus. The risks and/or benefits of newborn exposure are not known.[PMID: 19053892] Measurement of antiretroviral medication concentration in amniotic fluid may be needed to identify signals of subtherapeutic or supratherapeutic drug exposure.
