Definition
- The ratio of IgG to transferrin clearances, the selectivity index, is useful in the diagnosis and management of proteinuria. Both IgG and transferrin levels are measured in serum and urine and the selectivity index (SI) is calculated according to the formula of Cameron and Blandford where SI = (uIgG/sIgG)/(uTf/sTf) or (uIgG/sIgG * sTf/uTf).[PMID: 4161419] An index of below 0.1 is indicative of highly selective proteinuria.[PMID: 11012907]
