Definition
- HCV Ag assays are used as an aid in the diagnosis of suspected Hepatitis viral (HCV) infection and to monitor the status of infected individuals, i.e., whether the patient's infection has resolved or the patient has become a chronic carrier of the virus. This term was created for, but not limited in use to, the submitter's Architect System, HCV Ag test kit. In the USA the CDC testing algorithm does not include the HCV core antigen.
