Definition

  • Increased guanidinoacetate (GAA) is a marker for the diagnosis of guanidinoacetate methyltransferase (GAMT) deficiency. Almeidaa et al (2004) found the GAA levels in plasma to be 4-22 times higher in patients with GAMT deficiency compared to controls.[PMID: 15234334]
