Leishmania infantum+donovani IgM Ab [Titer] in Serum or Plasma by Immunofluorescence

L infantum+donovani IgM Titr SerPl IF

Definition

  • This assay detects antibodies against Leishmania donovani IgM for L. infantum screening based on the known cross reactivity between L. donovani and L. infantum. If the Leishmania IIFT is positive, a monospecific test (example Westernblot) can be performed to differentiate the pathogenic agents and confirm the diagnosis. Immunoglobulin specific slides distinguish between IgG, IgM and IgA. No reaction at a 1:100 titer indicates no IgM class antibodies against Leishmania donovani are detected, but infection cannot be excluded. A reaction of a titer at 1:100 is positive indicating a former or acute infection. This term was created for, but not limited in use to, the submitter's Euroimmun Anti-Leishmania donovani indirect immunofluorescence test kit.
