Oncology Cancer surveillance
Definition
- A document or template containing information on tests recommended specifically for the long-term surveillance of cancer as part of a patient's survivorship care plan (SCP). The type of test, its timing, the coordinating provider, and when the surveillance is recommended to occur may be included. For example, surveillance may include biannual mammograms the first year after treatment followed by annual mammograms in subsequent years. This term was created for, but not limited in use to, the Recommended Cancer Surveillance section in the HL7 Clinical Oncology Treatment Plan and Summary (COTPS) implementation guide.
