This assay quantifies Human Immunodeficiency Virus Type 2 (HIV-2) RNA isolated from human plasma through the use of Real-Time PCR. The HIV-2 real-time PCR assay includes viral lysis and nucleic acid extraction using Nuclisens EasyMag, reverse transcription using Bio-Rad iScript cDNA synthesis, and Real-Time PCR on the resulting cDNA.
