Definition

  • The measured metabolic equivalent of task (MET) calculated based on the measured exercise metabolic rate and the standard resting metabolic rate (RMR). The standard RMR is defined as 3.5 mL O2/kg/min. The exercise metabolic rate can be measured (this term), estimated [LOINC: 82262-7], or reported [LOINC: 82263-5]. Additionally, METs can be further adjusted based on patient demographics, such as age, sex and BMI [LOINC: 82271-8].
