Definition

  • The measured metabolic equivalent of task (MET) calculated based on reported exercise metabolic rate and the standard resting metabolic rate (RMR) per minute. The standard RMR is defined as 3.5 mL O2/kg/min. The exercise metabolic rate can be measured [LOINC: 82261-9], estimated [LOINC: 82262-7] or reported (this term). The reference source used for the reported exercise metabolic rate should also be provided [LOINC: 82281-7]. Additionally, METs can be further adjusted based on patient demographics, such as age, sex and BMI [LOINC: 82271-8].
