Definition
- Clinical details about the anatomical extent of the tumor is recorded on the pathology requisition to facilitate accurate staging. Information may include a comment about the apparent completeness of resection, the presence or absence of clinically known metastatic disease and the site of any known metastases, including information that may not be apparent based on the surgical specimen alone. This term was created for, but not limited in use to, the Colorectal Cancer Structured Reporting Protocol (2nd Edition, 2012) developed by the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (RCPA) for structured reporting of colorectal cancers.
