Definition

  • This term is used to report the presence or absence of glycopeptide resistant Staphylococcus aureus based on inhibitory concentrations of vancomycin and teicoplanin. This term was created for, but is not limited in use to, bioMerieux's ETEST GRD assay, which is intended to identify but not differentiate between Staph aureus strains with intermediate or heterogeneous resistance, called GISA and hGISA, respectively. To report which of GISA or hGISA is present, use [LOINC: 85042-0].
