  • Mycoplasma hyorhinis is a difficult organism to identify by culture. Quantitative PCR methods can more successfully identify M. hyorhinis in swine herds because it can be performed directly on clinical samples that may contain small numbers of bacteria. [PMID: 7532205] Specimen types for this test are fresh tissues, joint or polyserositis fluid and joint swabs.
