Occup CDC Census code

Definition

  • The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Census Occupation code for a patient's reported occupation [LOINC: 85658-3]. For example, a patient 's occupation of "Medical technologist" may be classified under the CDC Census Occupation code 3300 for the title "Clinical laboratory technologists and technicians". The occupation category may be the same as the patient reported occupation. A web-based tool, NIOSH Industry and Occupation Computerized Coding System (NIOCCS), may be used to translate industry and occupation (I&O) text to standardized I&O codes.[http://www.cdc.gov/niosh/topics/coding/] The associated North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code or Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) code may also be provided with each CDC Census code.
