Definition

  • This panel contains quantitative results for free hemoglobin and oxyhemoglobin in plasma to test for hemolysis due to a transfusion reaction, surgery, or other causes. Typically both results are reported, but if bilirubin or another interfering substance is present, then only the oxyhemoglobin result, which is less affected by interference, is reported.
