Calcium in Specimen

Calcium MFr Spec

Definition

  • Quantitative measurement of calcium levels in various clinical or veterinary specimens, including tissue, feces, soil, cement and animal food sources (e.g. corn, soybean, hay, grass, grain). In animals, relatively high amounts of dietary calcium can be tolerated. However, when animals are fed calcium above the maximum level over a long period of time, the main side effects include interference with use of other minerals, especially phosphorus and zinc, and/or a significant reduction in feed intake affecting performance.
