Definition

  • This term was created for but is not limited to, the Enhanced Liver Fibrosis Score (ELF), which is intended to be a risk assessment tool for the severity of liver fibrosis in patients with signs and symptoms of chronic liver disease. The Enhanced Liver Fibrosis Score combines three lab tests in an algorithm: hyaluronic acid (HA), amino-terminal propeptide of type III procollagen (PIIINP), and tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase 1 (TIMP-1) assays.
