Definition

  • The predominant leukocyte type (e.g. neutrophils, eosinophils, basophils, lymphocytes, monocytes) identified in an ear swab sample from the left external canal. In veterinary medicine, this test is useful for characterizing the type of inflammation present, guiding treatment, and tracking response to treatment. The clinical course for each ear may be tracked separately in order to monitor response to treatment.
