- This panel contains ordinal results for detection of nucleic acids within the 18S small subunit (SSU) gene of Babesia microti, B. divergens and MO-1 strains, and B. duncani species. The submitter's assay cannot differentiate between B. divergens and MO-1 strains due to close proximity of the melting curves. This test may be performed as an initial screening or as a confirmatory testing method for suspected babesiosis.
