Definition

  • Veterinary toxicology testing may include analysis of thousands of chemicals, including organochlorines, organophosphates, carbamates, aliphatic hydrocarbons, industrial pollutants, disinfectants, antioxidants, miscellaneous pesticides, polycyclic aromatics, alkyl benzenes, some natural products, vitamins, plant and fungal toxins and some drugs. This panel contains qualitative LOINC terms for the more commonly reported substances, but it is not an exhaustive list. It also contains a generic term to report the detection [LOINC: 88865-1] of a substance that does not have a specific LOINC code assigned. [LOINC: 88868-5] is the corresponding panel for quantitative veterinary toxicology reporting.
